There's more to life than Solo and Teams

Chances are good that the last time you played a Zone Laser Tag game, you played either Teams or Solo game mode. How do we know? We crunched the numbers, and 90% of all games played in the last 12 months across Zone systems were Solo or Teams. And look, we get it, we do. Solo and Teams are a guaranteed good time! What reason does anyone have to change it up when you’ve got the team heading down to the local arena to beat their high score, or if the homies have a standing appointment to throw down in the arena of a Friday night, mano a mano?

Well, none, but also… lots of reasons! Variety is the spice of life, as they say. Zone’s Helios3 system comes with 17 games out of the box, so there’s no excuse not to brush up on the rule book and start up some different game modes. And with several game pack upgrades available; it’s always a good time to freshen up the Laser Tag offering at your venue.

Maybe you didn’t even know other game modes were available, maybe you’re of the opinion that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But running different games alongside the bread and butter of Solo and Teams is a great way to keep your venue popping and your customers thrilled. So how do we get the word out that there’s a whole world of Laser Tag games outside of Solo and Teams? Get creative!

One of our Zone operators in Sydney saw the value in providing their customer base with more options for their Laser Tag games and created a physical menu of game modes for customers to choose from, just like a restaurant or bar. This tickled me when I first heard of it, and the more I thought about it the more it made sense. What a fun way to educate the players about the breadth of games available to them, to help them understand the objective and the rules. Playing 3 or more games? That’s a Laser Tag tasting flight right there!

Another way to let customers know about different game modes is having a Laser Tag champion amongst your staff. I recommend tapping that staff member who just loves Laser Tag to be that champion. You know this person, this is the one you go to for all Laser Tag questions, the one joyfully running the birthday parties, the one the kids all talk about when they come home from your venue after the party. They’ll know the game modes off by heart and can provide off the cuff suggestions to the party goers, briefing them on the rules and ensuring an unforgettable player experience. Game modes are a wonderful way to theme events at your venue too, and no Halloween event is complete without a few games of Zombies or Vampires.

Some of our operators put on special events like members nights; informal events where their members come down to the venue to try out different games and just have a good time. Strategy and objective type games like Poison Players or Capture the Flag are a great way to make that corporate team building event memorable, and I guarantee that every kid from the school group booking that played Vampires is going to come home with tales of how their teacher played the vampire at Laser Tag that day.

Creating fun moments of connection for your customers is how you drive repeat visits, keep things fresh and your venue buzzing. Laser Tag is already fun- it’s scientifically been proven, so if you can unexpectedly delight your customers with a mission-based game why not give it a try?

Whichever way you do it, trying out different games showcases the versatility of your system, keeps your customers interested and your Laser Tag arena a place worth revisiting.
